I'm in love with Kowalski's. I went there after my workout this morning, and as usual, walked out with a bag full of fresh produce and other goodies I've been wanting to try.
Blueberries and celery. Muesli and other whole-grain breakfast cereals. Bell peppers and tomatoes.
The little trips remind me of my regular stops at Billa Heute and the Naschmarkt when I was living in Vienna. Picking up groceries for the next few days. Lots of fresh foods. Experimenting with new cooking methods and recipes with Becky after a walk through the Naschmarkt. Nothing at all like the wide-aisled mega grocery store chains. (Now, if only I had my Envirosax bags back then--I have a set and keep at least one in my purse at all times. They definitely beat the bags I reused in Europe.)
I may be paying a bit more for my groceries at Kowalski's, but I love the atmosphere, the variety is great, and it inspires me to make REAL food instead of a just-add-water boxed meal.
On the menu for tonight: turkey-stuffed bell peppers (from an old issue of Healthy Cooking magazine gifted to me).
